[My Crochet & Booth Setup Must Haves]

Doing what you love is one thing but, when you're trying to push that love for creativity into a successful small business, it can be overwhelming at times. We've only completed a few events so far but we've learned so much already-- what you need, what you might want if you can spend the extra money, and what you can leave out.

I'm here to share some of my tried and true favorites with you. I have included the amazon links for these items- some of these items were discovered while doing fairs and talking to other vendors and some were through trial and error along our journey.

Crochet Must-Haves

1. Clover Crochet Hooks

My favorite crochet hooks for comfort and speed are Clover Amour hooks. The ergonomic handles reduce hand fatigue during long crochet sessions and the hooks glide smoothly through yarn.

Why I love them:

  • Comfortable grip

  • Smooth stitching

  • Great for marathon crochet sessions

  • Worth the investment

If you want to splurge a little bit, I love the metal Furls crochet hooks. They are ergonomic with a longer handle and help maintain even tension. This is a splurge, not a necessity.

2. Quality Yarn

Bernat Maker Yarn

This is one of my favorite yarns for baskets, purses, home décor, and modern crochet projects.

Benefits:

  • Soft cord-like texture

  • Durable

  • Creates beautiful stitch definition

  • Works up quickly

Batelo T-Shirt Yarn

My go-to for making handbags, baskets, and sturdy accessories.

Benefits:

  • Thick and durable

  • Modern appearance

  • Excellent structure for bags and décor

3. Stitch Markers

A simple tool that saves countless headaches.

I use stitch markers for:

  • Tracking rounds

  • Marking increases and decreases

  • Keeping patterns organized

  • Preventing mistakes

4. Tapestry Needles

Finishing projects cleanly is just as important as making them. I prefer ones that are made of metal and prefer option for straight and bent.

These are essential for:

  • Weaving in ends

  • Joining pieces

  • Finishing garments

  • Creating professional-looking projects

5. Sharp Craft Scissors

Any sharp fabric scissors will do. I have a larger and smaller size depending on what fabric I'm working with.

A quality pair helps create clean cuts and keeps your workstation efficient.

6. Yarn Storage Bag

Organization becomes critical when you have multiple projects going.

Why I recommend one:

  • Keeps yarn clean

  • Prevents tangles

  • Easy travel to markets and events

  • Stores hooks and accessories

7. Yarn Winder

Instead of dealing with tangled up yarn or yarn that rolls ALL over the place, I use a yarn winder to "cake" my yarn which is then placed on a holder or in a yarn bowl to make my life easier.

Benefits:

  • Creates neat yarn cakes

  • Prevents tangles

  • Saves storage space

  • Makes yarn easier to work with

8. Yarn Bowl or Yarn Holder

Again- makes life easier!

Why they're helpful:

  • Keeps yarn clean

  • Prevents rolling across the floor

  • Reduces tangles

  • Makes crocheting more enjoyable

9. Blocking Mats

The secret weapon for professional-looking finished projects. Don't ever underestimate the power of blocking prodcts before presenting them.

Blocking helps:

  • Even out stitches

  • Improve shape

  • Create cleaner edges

  • Give projects a polished finish

Craft Fair Booth Display Must-Haves

A beautiful product deserves a beautiful display. These are the booth essentials that help me create a professional shopping experience.

1. Product Tags

Professional tags instantly elevate handmade products.

General Product Tags:🔗 https://amzn.to/4w2NUZc

Why they're important:

  • Branding

  • Pricing visibility

  • Product information

  • Professional presentation

2. Retail Paper Bags

Simple packaging goes a long way. I like this one because there are multiple sizes. We just add our business stickers to the bags instead of paying to customized bags printed with our logo to save money.

I love kraft bags because they:

  • Look professional

  • Fit most handmade items

  • Are affordable

  • Can easily be customized with stickers

3. Custom Business Stickers

A small detail that leaves a lasting impression-- We put them on all of our bags, tags, etc. Consider putting a QR code in your logo linked to a website, social media page, etc.

I place stickers on:

  • Shopping bags

  • Product packaging

  • Thank-you cards

  • Orders shipped to customers

4. Quality Tablecloths

We've personally bought two different sets- black and blue. I can tell you they're excellent, show no signs of wear, and are machine washable.

Benefits:

  • Hides storage

  • Creates a polished appearance

  • Makes products stand out

  • Enhances branding

5. Table Risers

One of the biggest mistakes new vendors make is displaying everything flat. You will immediately stand out with only a few extra inches.

Risers help:

  • Create visual interest

  • Add height

  • Increase visibility

  • Display more inventory in less space

6. Vertical Room Divider Display

Vertical displays maximize booth space and help attract shoppers from across the venue. This was something that we saw at an event and had to ask her about it because it's such a simple way to display more items and have vertical display space.

Perfect for:

  • Earrings

  • Keychains

  • Small crochet items

  • Signs and branding

7. Portable Checkout & Signage Station

I've included a link for the cash box we use. All of our signage is designed and printed by us!

I use mine for:

  • Payment processing

  • Business cards

  • QR codes

  • Social media information

  • Special promotions

Final Thoughts

When I first started selling handmade products, I thought success came from making more inventory. Over time, I learned that having the right tools and a professional display makes just as much difference.

Good crochet tools help you create faster and more comfortably. A well-designed craft fair booth helps customers shop with confidence and makes your business look established and trustworthy.

If you're building your crochet toolkit or preparing for your next craft fair, these are the supplies I personally recommend starting with.

Happy crafting!
